• 23,000 SF Performing Arts and Fitness Center for the Institute of American Indian Arts
• Improved offerings for performing arts classes and student wellness
• The Performing Arts component of the project included a black box theater, rehearsal studios, dance studios, dressing rooms, a green room and a costume shop
• The Health/Fitness component of the project included a gymnasium, a fitness room with weight and cardio equipment, men’s and women’s locker rooms

• 108,000 square foot, four-story campus facility included a basement and both high and low roof levels
• Structural systems involved metal deck over open web steel joist and steel beams supported by steel girder beams
• Chavez-Grieves Consulting Engineers designed 40-foot-long cantilevered concrete walls
• 650,000 pounds of concrete were used to create the cantilevered walls
• A 652 pound per foot beam was also incorporated to span 56 feet

• Project added 37,000 square feet of new space in addition to renovating 51,000 square feet
• Building provided an ideal space in which to train New Mexico’s teachers and allow for adaptation of the learning environment to meet the technological requirements of the future
• Building volumes were organized to concentrate classroom spaces away from office spaces to enable greater energy efficiency
• New laboratory classrooms, interview and observation rooms, as well as the addition of a crucial resource library, conveniently allowed the Department of Education to centralize its operations

• The NMHU Student Union Building featured a contemporary design
• Stone base full-height glazed glass panels providing natural light for the main public spaces
• Metal panel system along the exterior perimeter of the building completed the building skin walls
