Fire Rock Navajo Casino – Gallup, New Mexico

Construction Cost: $11M   Size: 64,000sf   Completed: 2008

This new, 64,000 square foot casino is inspired by the four cardinal points on the compass.  The design, the siting, and the program arrangements of this casino are all based in the metaphor.  At the center of the compass is the Hearth.  This is the heart of the project and a link between Earth and Sky.  The interior elevations and palette tie to the Four Sacred Mountains of the Navajo.

The team took cues from the surrounding topography for the porte-cochere, surrounding screen walls, and the layered stratifications of finishes which are created utilizing stucco, steel and metal panels.
