Scott Heatly | Chavez-Grieves Engineering

Scott Heatly, P.E., Senior Partner
Scott Heatly, Business Development Officer and Chief Production Officer, has been with Chavez-Grieves Consulting Engineers, Inc. since 1992. He has worked as a production team leader and managed many of the firm’s high profile facilities such as the Albuquerque Isotopes AAA Baseball Stadium for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Nexus at 9th and G mixed-use condominium complex in San Diego, and Los Alamos National Securities Science Building.

Scott’s skill in managing fast-track, high risk, complex projects has been key for our market development in the design-build arena. To date, more than half of our projects are delivered through the design-build delivery method.

Constructability, Architectural Design Intent, Schedule, Cost and Risk Management are all hallmarks of Scott’s project management philosophy. Ultimately, the dedication to the client’s goals and overall contribution to the project is the focus of Scott’s management. Although the structural system is our primary concern, we realize project design cannot occur in a vacuum and decisions have an impact on all aspects of a building. It’s this awareness that adds value beyond the structural system. In the end the client is the beneficiary.

One example of this awareness is the overall aesthetic of the Albuquerque Isotopes AAA Baseball Stadium. Unsolicited, Mr. Heatly analyzed multiple structural systems, member profiles, varying exposed steel details and structural layouts in order to help determine the best design to coordinate within the architectural aesthetic. Almost all recommendations were incorporated into the design, which according to the lead design architect from HOK Sport contributed to one of the most original AAA baseball stadiums in decades.

Steven Vasquez, P.E., Associate Partner
Steven leads and manages one of Chavez-Grieves’ primary design-build teams. Steven’s project portfolio is extensive throughout the southwest and includes many high profile healthcare facilities, casinos, resorts and business complexes. Steven's repeat clients, both architects and contractors, are some of the largest, and most respected in their field. They often rely on Steven to take the building structure off the “critical path” while also keeping stewardship of the architectural design intent.
